Slips, trips, and falls are among the leading causes of accidents in the home. Serious injury and bleeds often result. Take some time to inspect your home for hazards.

  • Keep walkways clear and free of clutter. Don’t use hallways for storage. Don’t run electrical cords under rugs or across walkways.
  • Use adequate lighting, especially on stairs and landings.
  • Be sure that all handrails are solid. They should be able to support your full weight.
  • Wipe up spills immediately and keep floors dry.
  • Install nonslip treads on stairs, as well as in the tub and on the bathroom floor.
  • Install a grab bar on the bathtub.
